Where do Valentine’s gifts come from?
Time to start your Valentine’s Day shopping if you haven’t already. V-Day is coming round the corner faster than you think. I think it’s harder to buy gifts for guys than for girls. I mean, for a guy, something as simple as a pair of silver cufflinks will do the trick and they’re almost guaranteed to jump for joy.
But for the ladies, you really have to know them to know what kind of gift they would appreciate. No mean task, that one. If you’re not sure, ask around their friends. You could certainly get some good ideas from them.
Or if you’re like me, you won’t wait around for someone to buy you a Valentine’s gift. You’ll actually buy yourself one!

Fashion unleashed
When I’m sitting outside my daughter’s school waiting for her, I am a captive audience to the daily parade of teens streaming out of class in all directions. And what teens wear these days honestly have me stumped.
I guess there is no limit to this so-called self expression and freedom to flaunt what you have (or do not have, as the case may be). But there is so much variety in so many styles, I wouldn’t be surprised if scrub tops were the latest fashion.

The message that should be behind popular award shows
I didn’t watch the Golden Globes last night but I saw the Red Carpet photos. As usual, I’m more interested in who’s wearing what than who won what. It’s always interesting to see what the celebs choose to wear though sometimes I wonder if they even look at themselves in the mirror before agreeing to what they’re wearing.
Another thing I’ve noticed is that although many celebs have god-given bodies, that’s not to say that some of the more curvacious celebs cannot look good in their plus size party dress. Yes, that’s exactly what I’m saying. You don’t have to be stick-thin to look good.
I think as long as you know your own body, you will find something that camouflages your flaws and accentuate your assets. Since so many people watch award shows like the Golden Globes, I think it’s an important message to send out to our young people.

When it pays to wait
For me, the holidays always seem to be about catching up with the latest technology, or should I say, technological gadgets. Well, isn’t it the time of year when we get most of our techie gifts? For me, it most certainly is, and that’s why I love it.
If there’s a new tablet for pc that everyone wants to get their hands on, chances are your wish might just come true and it’ll be waiting for you under that tree. It’s happened to me a few times so that’s why I’ve gotten smarter over the years and waited, instead of rushing out to buy a new upgrade or a new gadget the minute it hits the market.
